Apex Circuit Design was appointed to master plan and design the Beijing Street Circuit — a 4.9 km temporary street circuit set around Tongming Lake Park in the heart of Beijing’s E-Town technology district. Created to host the 2025 GT World Challenge Asia season finale, the project brings together the speed and excitement of international GT racing with the urban energy and architectural character of one of China’s leading innovation hubs.

The challenge was to deliver a safe, FIA Grade 3 street circuit within a live city environment, using existing public roads and park infrastructure. Apex’s thoughtful approach ensured the client’s objectives were prioritised at every stage. Multiple routing options were developed and refined in close collaboration with the client, balancing high-speed sections, overtaking zones, and technical corners while integrating seamlessly with the surrounding urban landscape.

Safety and operational efficiency were central to the design process, with temporary barrier systems, run-off solutions, and marshal access meeting modern circuit standards without compromise. The master plan also addressed event operations, including pit lane, paddock and spectator areas, media and hospitality facilities.

As part of its commission, Apex provided hands-on support during delivery, advising the client on effective collaboration with the FIA for efficient licensing, and overseeing local contractors installing the temporary circuit infrastructure to ensure the design intent was fully realised. Apex’s ability to communicate in a technically competent way across English and Chinese also made coordination with local teams and authorities seamless, reducing complexity and avoiding misunderstandings.

The resulting circuit is both a showcase and a catalyst, positioning Beijing E-Town as a global technology destination while demonstrating how modern motorsport can coexist with civic life. Its lakeside setting, dramatic skyline, and flowing geometry create a unique racing experience and a striking broadcast backdrop.
